I'm excited to participate in the @theinsidersUS review of the Galaxy Book 12. This new 2 in 1 tablet should be a great way for me to show of architec360.com 360 virtual tours as it has the power of a laptop and the touch screen of a tablet. I'll be able to use my fingers to show clients spaces that I've captured. It includes a drawing pen, for my art and a pen. I'm an Apple guy with 3 ipads so I'm curious to see what this Galaxy Book 12 will do. I'll keep you updated with photos, videos, and reviews. <strong style="background-color: whitesmoke; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: blue; font-family: "Open Sans", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; vertical-align: baseline;">#InsidersGalaxyBook
Philadelphia has a beautiful skyline from most viewpoints. However this one is very unique as it was taken from the 33rd floor of the Loews Hotel. Its 360 panorama which explains the distortion. The colors are beautiful and the view is amazing. ©Paulloftland.comUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4257366573546645126.post-23394926054419048932012-02-17T04:49:00.000-08:002012-02-17T04:49:36.383-08:00Tale of Two Cities

A panoramic story of two cities. Philadelphia,PA and Camden, NJ. While one strives the other is stagnant. Separated by the delaware river. This image tell the story of the two cities. Ironically the best view if from the Camden side. Where the property values are 1/5th of the Philadelphia side. Both waterfronts are beautiful. Its once you get to 3 blocks past waterfront is were these cities differ greatly. This image was taking on the Ben Franklin Bridge. This view is not possible with a traditional camera as it captures and panorama of almost a 180 degree view. Some artistic distortion is used to show the image perspectively. I grew up in Philly, my wife grew up in Camden. I love both cities. In fact my studio is now in Camden on the waterfront. I get to see the view of Philadelphia everyday. ©Paulloftland.comUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4257366573546645126.post-20479083960508731462012-02-13T17:09:00.000-08:002012-02-13T17:20:16.827-08:00Delaware Governor Jack Markell and Business Leaders speak to the Regions Business Community2012 Regional spotlight presented by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce held February 10th, 2012. I have created a website especially for headshots and portraits. The idea came from the photography sessions that I have with my clients. My clients normally get one great headshot but there are many other really good headshots they can use for their social media networks. I also wanted to give small business an opportunity to get headshots at rates similar to my corporate clients who get discounts because they have more than 6 employees for me to shoot. I will be offering special headshot rates on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month in my studio here at the Victor Lofts on the Camden waterfront. If you would like to take advantage of these special rates call me for an appointment.

A little while ago I had the opportunity to shoot Dr. Harvey Snyder for South Jersey Magazine. I was going thru the images from the session, and realized that in addition to the shot the magazine chose, that there were some pretty good images that Dr. Snyder didn't get to see.

I have this book from a famous celebrity photographer called Sessions. Its basically a couple camera rolls from his portrait sessions. Hence my idea to take my portrait sessions and do a collage of images and call it sessions.

By the way, this portrait session took less than 30 minutes as does most of my portrait sessions.

This collage you'll be able to see how the portrait session went.

For social media this is great because you could use a different portrait for everyday of the month and have it automatic update you status when you change it. In November I was commission by Brown Hill Development to capture some images of a luxury brownstone in the Art Musuem area of Philadelphia. Believe it or not this is the first time that I've shot an unfurnished home. This by itself was pretty challenging as I usually compose my interior shots based on the layout of the room and furniture. However this brownstone had such great features my job wasn't as difficult as I thought. The high-end kitchen and bathroom made my job easier.

I did take some editorial liberties with the kitchen. The original floors are a dark cherry and the cabinets are a beautiful dark walnut.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4257366573546645126.post-20026522654468610742012-01-12T14:15:00.000-08:002012-01-12T14:22:15.051-08:00Sugar House Portrait

This 180 degree view shows the beautiful architecture of this facility.
Technically this view can't be achieve with a regular lens without major distortion. So you have to make some sacrifices to show the space and tell the story. These sacrifices are evident in the curved walls in the top and bottom of the image. In order to make this image perspectively correct I would loose over 50% of the image.

This image was reworked from original images taken over 4 years ago. I was able to use the experience and techniques developed over the past year to create an image that is technically and aesthetically gorgeous. Your thoughts...
I had a chance to rework some of the images. Here is one of the Rotunda. I'm constantly learning and evolving as a photographer. There is a big difference in my work from 4 years ago to now. Back then I took the easy way and processed images using HDR. I've now come to dislike this style of photography as it doesn't look natural. Some call it too cartoonish. I've developed techniques to capture the highlights and shadows without using HDR software. I feel these images look more natural and realistic. You can see more examples of this on my website at www.paulloftland.com.
This image below is a 170 degree view. Wow! But it doesn't have a fisheye look that you would expect from such a wide view. There is evidence or a circular type lens being used. However this room design fits this type of photography perfectly.
This past Saturday, March 5th, was an event photography day for me. It started out with me covering the PA Horticultural Societies preview party green carpet.
Then I ran over to the Please Touch Museum where the Red Cross was having their 2011 Red Ball. This is my 6th year covering this event and it keeps getting better and better.
Above you can view 70 select images from this event to get the overall vibe. It was a great party. Every one had a Ball as evident in the photo viewer above. You can view images as a slideshow by hitting the play button.
This is a great fundraising event by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Red Cross. Their efforts support families impacted by disaster in our region.
Friday March 4th, 2011, I had the pleasure of photographing the Philadelphia Convention Center Expansion. My assignment was to capture the the Architectural space of the ribbon cutting ceremony for this new $787 million dollar convention center. Which makes it the 14th largest in the nation and the largest exhibit space in the northeast. This Center resides in center city philadelphia close to all major attractions and hotels and just down the street from City Hall the nations largest municipal building.

As an Architectural photographer with experience capturing events. I was commisioned to provide an overall view of this event thru its architecture. I was also commissioned to take a large group portrait in the New Terrace ballroom which is larger than a football field. If you look closely you'll see Rocky and Ben Franklin in the group.

This interior was so gorgeous I just have to post it again. I added it to my new website. The interior was designed by Floss Barber Interior Design located in Philadelphia, PA.
Unfortunately the restaurant closed its door in 2009. I will be putting my 20 best commercial and 20 best residential images on this website. Here is one of the commercial images that made the cut.
